INTAN JAYA - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Raider Infantry Battalion 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in the Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tengah Province. On Friday, 11 October 2024, the Patrol Team of the 509 Task Forces visited the Puyagiya Village, Sugapa District, and provided medical services during the patrol.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of the community, the Commander of the 509 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, stressed the importance of the Task Forces’ focus on the community's fundamental needs in the assigned area. Therefore, the Holomama Post, led by First Lieutenant Wanianto, has planned and prepared a plan for patrol and medical services in the Puyagiya Village. The Medical personnel, health equipment, and medicines are included in the planning and preparation stages. The Puyagiya Village, a remote area prone to possible interference by the Free Papua Movement Organization (OPM), requires the attention of the HABEMA Task Forces, including in the health sector.

Furthermore, when the residents saw the presence of the 509 Task Forces in the Puyagiya Village, they welcomed the Soldiers happily. The Medical Officer of the 509 Task Forces, First Lieutenant Doctor Hadi Widiyanto, who was part of the Patrol Team, immediately took action by observing several residents who admitted to having several illness symptoms. As an expression of gratitude, Mr. Rio Mujizau, one of the observed residents, said, "Thank you, Commander 509. I am feeling better now. God bless."
Upon receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, commended the 509 Task Forces’ initiative to provide medical services in the Puyagiya Village. His words: 'The 509 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to provide services for the community's basic needs to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region.' This recognition from the highest authority in HABEMA is not just a commendation but a testament to the significant impact of such initiatives on the region's development. It instills profound hope and optimism about their potential to shape the region's future positively.
